Claiming your Google Local Listing
How do you claim your Google Local Listing?
1. Go to http://maps.google.com. Then search for your business. (Business Name, City, State) Most of the time you'll find your business listed in Google Maps. If its not don't worry you can always create a listing by going to Google Local Business Center.
2. Click on your listing. A bubble will pop up by your businesses location on the map. Then Click more information.
3. A bigger window will pop up. Then click add or edit business.
4. A new page will pop up asking the following options.
6. Fill out all the information. Some of the information will be filled in for you if you are claiming your listing. I'd recommend filling in as much information as possible.
7. Then Google will ask you to verify your listing via Phone or Postcard. If you verify by phone an automated machine will call your business number asking to input the pin number provided to you by Google. The phone is the fastest way to do it. If you have to do it by postcard then Google will send you a Post Card then follow the information on the card.

Google Local for Law Firms!

Google Local shows more results, usually about 10, appear at the top of the page before the regular search results. On the good side, the local results now appear to be similar to the organic results. This opens the door for your law firm to get on the first page of google without having great organic results. If your listing is optimized properly you will be able to leap into the top 10 local results and be displayed at the top of the first page above the organic listings.
So make sure that you have an accurate local listing.
